Alessandro Sette, Ph.D.

Professor Center for Infectious Disease and Vaccine Research at the La Jolla Institute for Immunology (LJI). Member of the LJI Coronavirus Task Force.

Dr. Sette is  a world leader in the field of T cell epitope-MHC interactions. He has devoted his research career towards understanding the immune response, measuring immune activity, and developing disease intervention strategies against cancer, autoimmunity, allergy, and infectious diseases. Together with Dr. Shane Crotty, Dr. Sette was the first to publish a detailed analysis of the immune response to SARS-CoV-2. Currently he is establishing a global network to comprehensively map the T cell response to SARS-CoV-2, with the goal to provide an atlas to guide vaccine evaluation, establish the relative value of various viral targets and vaccine designs, and project the impact of viral variants that may be developing throughout the pandemic.
